3 Fun Ways To Experience Lake Dillon This Summer

By Caitlin Row | Monday, July 15, 2019

Fondly referred to as Lake Dillon, the Dillon Reservoir isn't just a Denver water source (learn its history by clicking here). It's the deep-blue heart of summertime recreation in Summit County. Whether you're looking at it or floating on it, the lake is the place to be.

1. Tiki Bars

Experience Lake Dillon with a drink in your hand! (There's no better way without a boat ...)

The Lakeside Tiki Bar, found at the Dillon Marina, is open for the season daily from 11:30 a.m. to sunset. Sip on a Rum Runner or Strawberry Daiquiri while soaking up the sun and alpine scenery. To learn more: pugryans.com/tiki-bar.

The Frisco Bay Marina's Island Grill Restaurant, located on the other side of the reservoir, is open daily from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. through Labor Day. Patrons can relax on an open-air deck while enjoying craft beers and icy cocktails. To learn more: townoffrisco.com/play/frisco-bay-marina.

2. Boat Tours

Frisco Bay Marina's Classic Boat Tour is the perfect way to relax and enjoy the panoramic mountain views. Guests will tour the reservoir via classic Larson powerboats. Food and drink is OK, but, sorry, no dogs! Cost is $35 per person with a two-person minimum (boats are limited to five passengers). To learn more: townoffrisco.com/play/frisco-bay-marina.

The Dillon Marina offers daytime sailing tours, sunset sailing tours, Women & Wine On the Water tours and Explore Lake Dillon Historical tours. To learn more and for pricing: townofdillon.com/marina/boat-tours.

3. Kayak or Standup Paddleboard

Looking for water activities that will also burn calories? Adventure Paddle Tours launches out of Frisco Bay Marina and offers kayak and standup paddleboarding tours. Rentals are also available. To learn more: adventurepaddletours.com.
