Let's be real. I think Summit County is a craft beer mecca. Its local brewers are some of the best in the state and its tasting rooms are a draw for beer lovers near and far. This weekend offers a chance to taste all the locally made beer plus more from around Colorado in one place.
Yes, that's right, Breckenridge Spring Beer Festival returns this Saturday, April 8. The event includes unlimited beer tasting with a ticket plus free live music. It's planned for Main Street Station and The Village at Breckenridge (right off Park Avenue). The daytime event runs from noon to 5 p.m. with the first hour reserved for those with pre-purchased tickets. Same-day tickets can be bought at 1 p.m. at the main ticket entrance. Things to Do in Summit
Snow returned to the High Country on Tuesday with more fresh stuff predicted for Sunday. That means this weekend will likely be busier with drive-up traffic from Denver. I certainly recommend a ski day at one of Summit County's four home mountains (Keystone, Breckenridge, Copper and A-Basin). You might see me lurking at the Basin.
USASA National Championships will continue at Copper Mountain through Thursday, April 13. That's 12 days of competition, folks, between 2,000 athletes spanning alpine, cross, stopestyle, pipe and rail jam.
If you're searching for a tasty weekend brunch option, check out The Bakers' Brewery in Silverthorne. It runs Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Goat, Keystone's much-loved music venue, will close for the winter season after this weekend. Split Window will perform Friday, April 7, and Dewey Paul Band will play Saturday, April 8. Both nights include a $5 cover. I'm saddened to say that music won't return to The Goat until October. Its owners head to Put-in-Bay, Ohio, every summer.
Other music performances on tap include Cranford Hollow at The Historic Brown in Breckenridge on Friday, April 7; Lee Rogers Band at Snake River Saloon in Keystone, also on Friday; El Paso Lasso at The Motherloaded Tavern in Breck on Saturday, April 8; and the Coteries at Snake River Saloon, also on Saturday.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, April 12, visitors and locals both will enjoy Bluegrass Picking Night at Prosit in Frisco.
