Mardi Gras & More in the Mountains

March marks the beginning of festive fun. Start the month with big mountain bliss watching films and cheering on Olympians. Then dig out your costume box and get ready for a Mardi Gras party across the county.

Banff Mountain Film Festival

Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center is back at the Rivercenter with the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, featuring inspiring films about the environment, adventure and the mountains. Tickets are $20, and the doors open at 6:30 p.m. for general admission. Come early and enjoy two drinks, a delicious dinner and advanced seating for $75.

Keep the night going and head to the Liquid Lounge after the Film Fest for a drink and a live DJ. Ask about the bartender special from 8 to 10 p.m.

Snowshoe for the Cure

Snowshoe for the Cure begins this Friday, March 1, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Summit County Community and Senior Center in Frisco. Come pick up your race bib and goody bags and enjoy games, appetizers, drinks and pink swag. The race will begin on Saturday, March 2, at Frisco Nordic Center. Participate in the 3K or 5K or have your kids join the Lil Stomper Dash. On Saturday, registration pick-up and a pancake breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Day Lodge. Register here.

Special Olympics

The 31stWinter Games for the Special Olympics will be at Copper Mountain this weekend – Saturday, March 2, and Sunday, March 3. Come watch the best in the nation compete in snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, alpine and snowboard Super G, Slalom and Giant Slalom. There will be opening ceremonies, a victory celebration, a dance and more.

Grab some grub at the Incline Bar and Grill at the base of Copper in Center Village. Incline is the perfect spot for some après munchies and a cold beverage or a nice sit-down meal for lunch or dinner. Happy hour runs from 3 to 6 p.m. 

Mardi Gras

Saturday, March 2, is Mardi Gras 4Paws on Main Street in Frisco. Registration begins at 2:30 p.m. on 3rd Avenue between Main Street and the alley. You and your pooch can partake in Yappy Hour, a parade and a Canine Costume Contest. All proceeds benefit Hope for Animals - Clear Creek Rescue.

Keystone is throwing a Mardi Gras Party on Tuesday, March 5, starting at 2:30 p.m. Pile on your beads and costumes and get ready to eat some gumbo. Chris Daniels and the Kings will be playing live music.

Belle V. Bistro is hosting a Marti Gras Masquerade Wine Dinner on Tuesday, March 5, starting at 6 p.m. The event will kick off with champagne and light hors d’oeurves, followed by a four-course dinner. Cocktail and semiformal wear are encouraged. Masks will be provided. Tickets are $99 per person. Register online.

Don't Miss Ice Castles

You have less than two weeks left to visit the acre-large Ice Castles stunning display in Dillon before they close on Saturday, March 9. Tens of thousands of people have come to see the incredible castles featuring carved tunnels, fountains, slides, frozen thrones and towers. Tickets are available online
