Outdoor Pursuits and Fine Arts in Summit County

This week in Summit choose between the fine arts or challenging outdoor pursuits. Art festivals, films, trail running, standup paddleboard yoga and mountain biking are among the events happening in the county.

SUP Yoga

It’s SUP yoga season! Every Friday and Saturday morning at 7 a.m. through September 1, Peak Yoga will teach a yoga class on paddleboards at the Dillon Marina. No yoga experience necessary. Check the website for details.

Fine Art Festivals

Breckenridge

It’s the 35th annual Breckenridge July Art Festival on Friday, July 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It's held at Main Street Station and The Village at Breckenridge, on the corner of S. Main Street and Park Avenue. This event is ranked as the 59th best art festival in the nation and will feature more than 100 artists from around the country.

Silverthorne

Art on the Blue River is Silverthorne’s first art festival of the season, this Friday and Saturday, July 6 and 7, starting at 10 a.m. Head to the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center Lawn where you can enjoy art from 25 local Colorado artists, food, drinks and more. The Freddy Jones Band will play at 5 p.m. on Friday.

Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, is the 1st Silverthorne Fine Art Festival. Come to North Pond Park to see 80 fine artisans from across the nation and the world. Admission is free. Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Big Mountain Enduro

Come ride one of the toughest and most rugged lift-accessed mountain biking courses in the country at the 2018 Big Mountain Enduro on July 7. There will be an all-day festival in Keystone Village, live entertainment and a kids mini-enduro. Register online.

Trail Running

Sunday, July 8, marks the first Trail Run of the Arapahoe Basin trail running series. Competitors will run along the Argentine-North Fork Trail to mid-mountain, to the top of Pali, along the ridge to West Wall and down the Summer Road. The distance is 4.9 miles with 1,300 feet of elevation gain. The event costs $20 and starts at 10 a.m. Register online.

Movies on the Water

Every Sunday through August 26, Dillon Amphitheater will show a film for Movies on the Water from 8 to 10 p.m. This week’s film is Easy Rider. Check the calendar for the full movie lineup.
