Ski Season is Here in Summit

With a fresh coat of snow on the ground, it's safe to say ski season has arrived. Ski County USA is celebrating with local deals, food and drink specials, films, sales and more.

Locals Appreciation Sale & Party

It’s Underground Snowboard’s Locals Appreciation Day this Thursday, November 8, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Early birds get coffee and doughnuts. New gear will be 20 percent off, and last year's sale items are an extra 10 percent off. For every $20 you spend, you get a raffle ticket toward a prize of your choice. 

Head to Breckenridge Distillery's After Party for movies, giveaways, raffles, beverages and more. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Summit County Rescue Group.

Ski Film at the Brewery

Thursday, November 8, is the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the classic ski film The Blizzard of Aahhh. Wear your '80s gear and get ready for prizes and discounted four-packs to Loveland Ski Area. The movie starts at 8:30 p.m. at the Dillon Dam Brewery, and entry is only $7.

Pray for Powder

Friday, November 9, is the Pray for Powder Party at Dillon Dam Brewery with KSMT. Starting at 5 p.m. there will be raffles, wacky contests and Happy Hour runs from 3 to 7 p.m.

Get Stoked Films

Warren Station at Keystone is hosting its own Get Stoked Film Series. This Saturday, November 10, is Matchstick Production’s Hoji. There will be two showings, one at 5:30 p.m. and the other at 8 p.m. Tickets are $10 online or $15 at the door on Saturday. There will be drink specials and raffles at both this showing and the showing of Zig Zag by Level One on Saturday, November 17 at 5:30 p.m.

Girls on the Run

Saturday, November 10, at 11 a.m. is the Frisco Girls on the Run 5K. For the fourth year in a row, girls in grades 3 to 5 will run in a non-competitive event after training in the program for ten weeks. The race is open to everyone. Register here.

Red Buffalo Birthday

It’s Red Buffalo Cafe’s 8th Anniversary. Come celebrate their birthday with awesome deals and giveaways from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 13.

Backcountry Ski Trips

Colorado Adventure Guides are offering private backcountry skiing trips this winter. Learn the value of earning your turns while you traverse alpine ridgelines and summit snow-covered peaks (maybe even a fourteener!) Colorado Adventure Guides (CAG) provides professionally trained guides who can find the best snow and assess avalanche potential and dangerous conditions. If you want to practice your own backcountry skills and rescue techniques, sign up for the avalanche safety courses CAG will be hosting this winter.
