This weekend test out your ski and fat bike skills at three different snow sports competitions on Saturday. Then gear up for the big game and head to your local sports bar or brewery for a cold beer, good food and a large TV to watch the 52nd Super Bowl on Sunday.
On Saturday, February 3, at 9 a.m. is the 48th annual Frisco Gold Rush. The longest running Nordic event in Colorado is open to classic and skate skiers of all ages and abilities. Race lengths range from a 1K Kids Ski to a 20K race. Register online or on the day of the event at the Frisco Day Lodge. Hang around in the evening for Eat, Ski & Be Merry, a benefit dinner for the Summit Nordic Ski Club. Ski or snowshoe along a fire-lit route, stopping for refreshments or to warm up at the bonfire. Tickets are available online through February 2 and can be purchased at the door. Head back to the lodge for music, drinks, food and a silent auction. Rentals are available.
The 16th annual Beacon Bowl and Après Party will be held this Saturday, February 3, at Arapahoe Basin. While the Broncos aren’t playing this Super Bowl Sunday, you’re not going to want to miss the big game (or halftime with Justin Timberlake). Grab a beer and some grub and watch the New England Patriots and the Philadelphia Eagles face off at 4:30 p.m. at these great spots: Dillon Dam Brewery in Dillon, Ollie’s Pub and Grub in Frisco, Burke and Riley’s Irish Pub in Breckenridge and Bakers’ Brewery in Silverthorne.
