Summer Kick-Off in Summit

May has wound down, June is ramping up, and Summit County is welcoming summer with lots of different outdoor events. From biking and hiking to skiing and running, outdoorsy folk can enjoy an active week. For those who prefer to celebrate the coming of summer with art, music and food, there are events for you too!

WAVE: Light + Water + Sound

Thursday, May 31, to Sunday, June 3, is the WAVE: Light + Water + Sound event, a four-day Breckenridge festival. Check out the full schedule to see all of the interactive artworks, installations and musical performances around Blue River Plaza.

Cycle Silverthorne Kickoff

Head to Silverthorne Performing Arts Center on Friday, June 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. for the First Friday Cycle Silverthorne Kickoff Celebration. Start this bike happy month with live music by the Shaky Hand String Band, food, drinks, bike mechanics, bike fittings, bike art and more.

Rock the Dock

Saturday, June 2, is the official start of summer with Frisco’s Rock the Dock Party at the Frisco Bay Marina. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be giveaways, live music from the Chris Bauer Trio, and a $6 burger and beer deal at the Island Grill. There will also be giveaways! From 8 to 11 a.m., come to the Frisco Rowing center for a free breakfast and an intro to rowing!

National Trails Day

Friends of the Dillon Ranger District (FDRD) is celebrating National Trails Day with a group work day on the Salt Lick Trail System. After working, everyone will go to the Tiki Bar for beers and BBQ provided by Pug Ryan’s. Register online.

Run the Rockies

Run the Rockies is here for the 42nd year in a row this Saturday, June 2. The early summer mountain race along the Ten Mile Range is a classic way to kick of the running season. Register online for the 10K and half marathon options.

A-Basin Closing Day

Get your last turns in for the season at Arapahoe Basin’s closing day, Sunday, June 3. Enjoy a Shakin’ at the Basin Spring Concert with Tunisia from 1 to 4 p.m. in Mountain Goat Plaza.
