Like beer and live music? You're in luck in Summit County this week

By Caitlin Row | Monday, March 6, 2017

Spring Break kicked off this week, and Summit County sees its fair share of vacationers who have days off from school during this time of year.

It's a good thing there's plenty for all the visitors and locals to do.

Here are my top picks for Summit this week:

Drink Beer

Breckenridge is hosting a daytime beer and music festival called RIDE ON this Saturday, March 12. The beer portion of the event will include favorites from all Summit County breweries plus Breckenridge Distillery from 4-6:30 p.m. Musicians include COAMBIENT, Euforquestra, Gypsy Moon and MIPSO. This festival will be held at the Riverwalk Center. Pricing is $30 in advance, $40 day-of for the beer festival, and $20/$25 for the music festival only. This event benefits Conscious Alliance and is presented by Joyride Brewing.

Rock Out

Music lovers, rejoice! Summit County offers some serious tunes this week.

El Paso Lasso will perform at The Historic Brown in Breckenridge on Thursday, March 9. Prosit in Frisco will host Austrian-themed live music, also on Thursday.

SoDown is at The Brown on Friday, March 10. Donavon Frankenreiter will perform his surf-style, light-hearted songs at Breckenridge's Riverwalk Center on Friday with Grant-Lee Phillips. Goat Soup & Whiskey in Keystone will host KLB on Friday.

On Saturday, March 11, look for Greener Grounds at The Brown, Funk You at the Goat and Dead Phish Orchestra at Frisco's Barkley Ballroom.

Check out the events calendar at Summit This Week for even more things to do.

Go Shopping

Wandering Daisy, a gift shop in Breckenridge, has some pretty sweet T-shirts showcasing bike graphics. Other items available for purchase include fine art and jewelry made by local and regional artists.

High Country athletes prepping for the 2017 spring and summer running season should head over to Vertical Runner Breckenridge. This locally owned store offers running shoes, clothing and accessories along with custom shoe fittings. I always replace my running shoes heading into springtime training, and it's good to know that there's someplace local to do it.

Look Ahead

Subaru WinterFest is coming up on Saturday and Sunday, March 18 and 19 at Copper Mountain. Breckenridge's Pride Week is March 22 through 26. Karl Denson's Tiny Universe will perform at Keystone's Warren Station on Saturday, March 25. And the USA Snowboard and Freeski Association Championships will be hosted at Copper the first week in April.
