When it rains, drink beer in Summit County

By Caitlin Row | Tuesday, May 9, 2017

Predictions point to lots of rain in Summit County this week. That doesn't mean staying home and inside is the only option.

Checking out some local beer might be just the ticket. Broken Compass Brewing Company, which is in the Airport Road region outside of historic Breckenridge, offers Acoustic Sundays and Potluck Mondays at its tasting room. Outer Range Brewing Co. in Frisco near Whole Foods is another tasting option, as is The Bakers' Brewery, which is in Silverthorne.

Pug Ryan's Brewing Co. in Dillon was recently was sold by its longtime owners to a former employee of Breckenridge Brewery. This spot is certainly worth a taste as well. Click here to read about the sale.

Other craft brewers around Summit County include Dillon Dam Brewery in Dillon and Backcountry Brewery in Frisco.

With springtime on the brain, here are more top picks for Summit This Week.

Dillon Dam Brewery is featuring a 30 percent off pub dinner special from 5-10 p.m.

This isn't necessarily a deal, but the bar at Snake River Saloon in Keystone remains open for business. The restaurant is closed and will re-open on May 26. In the same vein, The Historic Brown in Breckenridge recently closed and will open for summer business on June 3.

Mother's Day Weekend Fun

The River Course at Keystone Resort will open for golf games on Friday, May 12. A full 18 holes will be available. If Mom likes to golf, a trip (or a promise of a trip) is a good Mother's Day gift. With that in mind, Keystone Ranch Golf Course is opening Friday, May 26.

Arapahoe Basin Ski Area is still open through the first week in June. It may be a fun idea to take Mom out to A-Basin for a family ski day. Saturday's Shakin' at the Basin Spring Concert Series will feature live music by New Sensation.

Blue Spruce Inn will host a Mother's Day Brunch on Sunday, May 14, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This all-you-can-eat event costs $29 for adults and $15 for children aged 5-12 and is free for kids aged 5 and younger.

Mother's Day Music with Leon Littlebird is planned for Sauce on the Blue in Silverthorne on Sunday. The event is planned from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Littlebird is known for his flute sounds based in native cultures.
