Celebrating Snow in Summit County

This week we are celebrating everything snow. From skiing and snowboarding to snowshoeing, there are opportunities to get out and participate or watch the pros take on winter sports. You can also enjoy festive celebrations set in snowy holiday scenes.

Powder Awards

Spend an evening with the biggest stars in the ski industry at the 18th annual Powder Awards. On Thursday, December 14, at 8 p.m., come to the Riverwalk Center to see one of the longest-running and most prestigious ski award shows on the planet. Skiing’s best athletes, cinematographers and photographers will be recognized for their contributions to the sport. For more information and tickets, visit the website.

New Moon Snowshoe Tour

Take advantage of the new moon and come for a snowshoe tour at the Gold Run Nordic Center on Friday, December 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. Experienced guides will give environmental and historical facts about the local habitat while leading participants through gentle terrain. Headlamps, snowshoes and a light meal are provided with entry. Register online.

Kidtopia Spectacular

Kidtopia Spectacular in Keystone kicks off Friday, December 15, and runs all the way until Christmas Eve. Don’t miss a week of festive family fun. Events include multiple fireworks shows, face painting, parades, cookie decorating, Super Snowy Science activities, movies and so much more. Check the schedule for details.

Holiday Storytelling

On Sunday, December 17, from 5 to 6 p.m., local storyteller Cathie Hill will host Teddy Bear Storytelling. Come to the Silverthorne Pavilion to hear holiday carols and stories. Kids should come in their coziest PJs and bring blankets, pillows and stuffed animals. There will be cookies, milk and hot chocolate. A $5 donation is recommended to benefit the Youth Scholarship Fund.

Dew Tour

From Thursday, December 14, to Sunday, December 17, come watch The Dew Tour at Breckenridge Resort’s Freeway Terrain Park. Men and women will compete in Olympic qualifying events for snowboarding and skiing halfpipe and slopestyle. Along with Team Challenge and Streetstyle competitions there will be tons of other events throughout the tour, including the Dew Tour Concert, the In-Town Festival and more. A Christmas Musical 

A Rocky Mountain Christmas is coming to Breckenridge Theater starting Thursday, December 14. The holiday musical tells the story of a mountain town caught in a snow storm. Come see the heartwarming tale of a community coming together for Christmas Eve. Check the schedule for dates and show times. Tickets are available online.

Treat Yourself

When you need to warm up or treat yourself to something healthy and delicious, Pho Real in Breckenridge is now offering breakfast starting at 8 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday (in addition to offering breakfast, lunch and dinner daily).
