Don't Waste a Minute of Summer in Summit

It's already August, so the pressure is on to squeeze as much joy out of summer as we possibly can. This week in Summit you can enjoy outdoor concerts, art festivals, road races, cold beer and more. Don't waste these long, warm days! They're numbered.

Frisco Funk Collective Concert

This Thursday, August 2, the Free Concert in the Park in Frisco features the Frisco Funk Collective. From 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Frisco Historic Park, dance to the local favorite band. All liquor sales will benefit the Family & Intercultural Resource Center.

Main Street Art Festival

On Thursday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. be sure to check out the 17th Annual Breckenridge Main Street Art Festival. The event is ranked 23rd in the nation for art festivals and will feature 80 artists and their ceramics, mixed media, fiber, jewelry, painting, wood, glass, sculpture and more.

Summit Seniors Rummage Sale

If you have items to donate or are in need of a few things, go to the Summit County Community Center from Thursday, August 2, to Sunday, August 5. Donate slightly used clothing, small furniture and appliances, housewares, linens and more or buy these items at a fraction of retail price. Last year sales netted more than $40,000 and supported multiple organizations around the county. Check the website for specific times, details and volunteering opportunities.

New Belgium Sour Session

Curious about sour beer? Head to Warren Station on Saturday, August 4, at 12 p.m. for a tasting and educational seminar on the intricacies of sour beer. Four New Belgium beers will be sampled and discussed. Tickets cost $10.

L.A.P.S Canine 4K 

Get exercise and support a good cause on Saturday, August 4, at the 28th annual L.A.P.S. Canine 4K. Along with the race, there will be awards, Doggie Yoga, contests, pet vendors, music by Randall McKinnon and more. Register online.

Bluegrass & Beer Festival

This weekend, August 4 and 5, is the Keystone Bluegrass and Beer Festival. More than 40 craft breweries from Colorado will show off their unique blends. Fourteen bluegrass acts will perform on three different stages throughout the weekend. Volunteer and get a free t-shirt and beer vouchers. Tickets are available online. Hours are 1 to 5 p.m. each day.

Plan Ahead for National Bowling Day

Did you know that August 11 is National Bowling Day? Lakeside Bowl in Dillon does, and they are celebrating National Bowling Day with half-priced bowling from 11 a.m. to midnight on August 11. Anyone dressed like the Big Lebowski will be entered to win a prize!
